Our story

OUR BEGINNINGS

Smith-Rogers Funeral Home has been an institution in Lovington for over 56 years. Before that it was known as Yarbro Funeral Home, the exact date of establishment for this funeral home is not known. Al Rogers and J.D. Smith became partners when they purchased the funeral home from E.B. Yarbro in 1965. Two years later, they built the present-day funeral home which is located on 4th & Washington. Smith-Rogers Funeral Home was locally owned and operated until 1997 when Al Rogers passed away. The funeral home was then sold to Alderwoods Group, they owned it until 2004. It was then bought by James & Bettye Kirby and was once again locally owned and operated, the funeral home is now named Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
