Willis Hatcher Sr. was born January 16, 1940 to David Hatcher Sr. and Pearlie B. Ransom in Fairfield, Texas, and moved to New Mexico as a young boy. Willis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Willis worked for the City of Lovington, the Gas Company, and later the Lea County Road Department until his retirement. After retirement, he became Lovington's greatest Cross Walk Guards at Lea Elementary School. Willis could always be found with a smile on his face. He had a way of making people laugh with his witty little sayings. Mr. Willis Hatcher Sr. departed this life on January 15, 2022 and peacefully transitioned into eternity. When he arrived in Heaven, his parents greeted him with his brothers Joel McVey, Willie "Butch" Hatcher, Howard Hatcher, Frederick Hatcher Sr., David Hatcher Jr., and his grandson Gee Nash. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years Irene Hatcher of the home; one son: Willis Hatcher Jr. and special friend Dena of Tatum, NM,; three daughters: Charlene Holmes of Lovington NM, Noela Nash and husband Gary of Lovington, NM, Hollie Brooks and husband Antwoin of Longview, TX., his sister: Ella Katie Seiver of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren: a grandson raised as a son Chris Hatcher and wife Jasmine of Hobbs, Zach Hatcher and wife Dawn of Lovington, and granddaughter: NaTasha Nash of Lovington, Shyniece Terrell of Lovington, David "Trey" Moody of Longview, Texas, Tihijahne Sessions of Hobbs, Courtnee Abron of Longview, TX., Marque Jackson of Longview, TX., and seventeen great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
