Obituary of Dennis Paul Bogan

Dennis Paul Bogan, longtime resident of Lovington, NM passed away on April 21, 2025 at his home. Best known as "Bogie" by his friends and family. Dennis worked in several capacities through his years in Lovington. His fondest memories are from his years at the Lovington Fire department, where he retired as Assistant fire Chief in 1995, owner of Bogan Communications, and the Lovington Municipal schools Technology Department, where he retired in 2021. He married his love Susan in 1987 they were married for 37 years. His time at home was spent doing what he loved, which included purchasing, building and refurbishing guitars, many of which he gave to aspiring young musicians. He also loved tinkering with his N gauge train collection, and most recently gardening and giving away produce to friends and family. He was an active member of First Christian Church, and while on the praise team, played bass guitar. Dennis is preceded in death by His parents: Paul Bogan and Betty Jo Bogan; three children: Jennifer, Clayton, and Cody from his first marriage; nephew: Aaron Ewing; niece: Erin Bogan; nephew: Tyrel Derrick, and great nephew: Derrick Harvey. He has left behind his wife Susie of their home; Step mother: Carol Bogan of Fellsmere Florida; Mother in law: Barbara Derrick of Lovington; Son: Justin and Connie Bogan, and grandchildren: Brianna and Levi of Temnath, Colorado, and son: Jacob Bogan of Lovington; Sister: Cathy and Rick Coffman of Tuscola, TX , Sister: Paula and Danny Eggleton of Lubbock TX, brother: Kevin and Becky Bogan of Lovington, and sister: Denise Bogan and Rae Bay of Fellsmere, Florida; Brother: Colton and Cathy Derrick of Lovington; Sister: Paula and Darrell Caviness of Causey NM, and brother: Joe and Stacy Derrick of Roswell, NM, Along with numerous nieces, nephews and many more extended family and friends. Funeral arrangements are through Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:45 am at First Christian Church in Lovington with Gene Wilde officiating.
