Obituary of Wilma Jean Kimbell

Funeral services for Wilma Jean Kimbell, 98, of Lovington, New Mexico will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 10:00 am at First Methodist Church with Pastor Rober Gasman officiating. Burial will follow at Portales Cemetery at 2:00 pm in Portales, New Mexico. Wilma was born on December 13, 1926 in Portales, New Mexico to Charlie and Mayme (Lyda) Anderson and passed away on April 28, 2025 in Aztec, New Mexico. Wilma Anderson Kimbell graduated from Foyd High School and married Owen B Kimbell in August, 30 1946. In 1956 they moved to Lovington and bought their home in 1957. She worked as beautician at Jeans Beauty Shop on the east side of the square in Lovington until O.B. and Wilma started City Motor Company in 1961 on the south end of town then they moved to the north main until they retired in 1991. Wilma loved traveling in their motor home and fishing and playing with all the grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Charlie and Mayme Anderson; her husband: Owen B. Kimbell; two brothers: Sid Anderson and Norwell Anderson; three sisters: Helen Suggs, Lura Miller and Wanda Grider; and one great-grandson: Tyler Grady.
She is survived by a son Ronnie and Dianna Kimbell of Aztec, grandson Ross and Rebecca Kimbell of Midland, Texas, granddaughter Barbara and Elmer Jobe of Midland, Texas, Grandson Joe Elliott of Amarillo Texas, Granddaughter Jennifer and Jonathon Grady of Farmington, NM; fourteen Greatgrandchildren: Spencer and Gabrielle Blackwood of Midland Texas, Sydni Kimbell of San Antonio Texas, Tyler Jobe of Midland Texas, Skyler Jobe of Midland Texas, Jonathan and Arabella Elliott of Amarillo Texas, Sara Grady of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sam Grady of Arlington, Oregon, Ella Grady and Jaelee Grady of Farmington, NM, Elizabeth and Hunter Stuart of Midland, Texas, Caroline Ransom of College Station, Texas, Abigayle and Cole Wilson of Weatherford, Texas. Aris Ellott of Amarillo, Texas, Kellen Kimbell of Belen, New Mexico; and six Great-Great grandkids: Oliver Blackwood, Kai Kimbell, Adonis Elliott, Wynn Wilson, Morgan Stuart, Ellie Stuart and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on, Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
