Nygal Odell Blancet Obituary

Nygal Odell Blancet, known by his many friends and relatives as Cookie, went Heaven Bound on Tuesday, May 25, 2025 surrounded by his family in Lubbock Texas. Cookie was born in Stanford, TX on July 2, 1929 to James H and Annie Oneita (Pollock) Blancet. He married to Shirley Jean Chase (the love of his life) for 67 beautiful years. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2022. He lived a long and prosperous life and was the delight of his 3 daughters Marsha, Julie and Tammy.



Cookie dropped out of school at an early age to help earn a living for his mother and siblings. He worked many jobs during his teen years traveling West with his family to work in the California shipyards. He joined the US Navy in 1950 traveling the Pacific Ocean frequently stopping in Japan. He was Honorably discharged in 1954. He then returned to New Mexico and sold Amana freezers during which time he met his soon to be bride, Shirley. They married July 2, 1955. He then began a lifelong career in the oilfield as a floor hand, motorman, driller and tool pusher. He retired from Landis Drilling and Wilbros Drilling Companies. He loved yearly vacations with extended family often traveling thru New Mexico and Colorado. This was the only time he was found drinking coffee and growing a beard. After he retired he enjoyed fishing off of Padre Island in the Gulf of Mexico. Also the many trips to Alaska and Canada fishing, Elk and Deer hunting took him to Wyoming. Pheasant hunting to Kansas for many years. He greatly appreciated his Brother in Love, Mack Chase for these opportunities.



Cookie was a member of Jackson Avenue Baptist Church for many years before moving to Duncan, OK with his daughter where he attended Glory Bound Church for the past year.



Cookie is survived by his daughters, Marsha Larson and husband Butch, of Del Rio, TX, Julie and husband John Balthrop, of Duncan, OK and Tammy Anderson and husband Mike of Artesia, NM. Five Grandchildren, Bobby Odell Standridge (wife Amanda) of Duncan, OK, Kelli Rachelle Boseman (husband Derek) of Fayetteville, NC, Jason Alexander Standridge (wife Lesly) of Duncan, OK, Dusty Anderson (wife Rianna) of Justin, TX and Ty Anderson of Los Cruces, NM. 7 Great Grandchildren, Tanner Boseman (wife Justice) of Fayetteville, NC, Jaiden Standridge of Lawton, OK, Teeghan Boseman of Willmington, NC, Alix Standridge of Duncan, OK, Kaleb Thacker of Cushing, OK, Andi Standridge of Weatherford, OK and Jeffrey Standridge of Duncan, OK. One Great Great Grandaughter, Tate Isley Boseman of Fayetteville, NC. One sister, Jaunda Kindel of Flower Mound, TX. Brother in Love, Jim Chase of Albuquerque, NM and Sister in Love, Nona Brewer and Brother in Love Tommy Brewer of Artesia, NM. Numerous nieces and nephews he loved beyond measure. He was so grateful for each and every friend he met on his lifelong journey.



He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his loving wife, four brothers, Melvin, Harvey, Cletis and Desmond (Peanut) four sisters Avila, Yvonne, Polly and Glenna (Cissy).



His life was greatly enriched by his In Loves, Vera and Oscar Doughty, Margaret and Clay Montgomery, George and Neva Chase, Mack and Marilyn Chase, Bill and Lena Chase, Lavetta Chase and Naomi Chase.



Funeral Services will be at Jackson Avenue Baptist Church, Lovington, NM on Monday June 2, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Dave Rowser and David Woods officiating.
