Funeral services for Walter Lee Simes, 75, of Lovington will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 2:00 pm at 3rd & Central Church of Christ with David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Walter was born on March 17, 1950 in Tahoka, Texas to Sylvester and Geneva (Clark) Sims and passed away on June 22, 2025. Walter was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather and everybody loved him. He was a joker and was the family comedian. Walter liked fishing, playing dominos and had a love for music and was a avid Washington Commanders fan. He was humble and a very strong man. Walter enjoyed cooking and was a BBQ king. He would take his shirt off his back for anybody.

He was preceded in death: his parents; two brothers: Sylvester Sims Jr. and Henry Sims; three sisters: Thelma Jackson, Bobbi Coe, and Emma Jean Haskins.

He was survived by his wife Mildred Hilliard Simes of 48 years; one son: Walter Simes Jr.; and two daughters: LaKeasha Cook and Tina Simes; two sisters: Mildred Stovall and Carrie Martin; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
