Linda Joan Raines

July 9, 1949 - July 21, 2025

Linda Joan Raines was born on July 9, 1949, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Joe and Clara Parson. Their family eventually settled in Lovington, New Mexico, where she graduated from Lovington High School in 1967. On August 12 of that same year, she married the love of her life, Jackie Raines.

Together, they raised two children, Lynnette and Paul.

Linda was a registered nurse and a compassionate caregiver who took great pride in her profession. She eventually retired from Tatum Public Schools, where she worked as the school nurse—a role she deeply loved.

Linda often said she wished she had started school nursing earlier, as the children always brightened her day.

Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Jackie Raines; her daughter, Lynnette (Brad) Tate; her son, Paul (Candy) Raines; four grandchildren who adored her; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Lynn (Ann) Simmons, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who lovingly called her "Aunt," "Mom," or "Grammy."

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Clara Parson, and her sister, Judy Simmons.

Linda will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and the love and care she shared with everyone around her.

Services will be at Resthaven cemetery at 10 AM on August 16, 2025.
