Carla June Poskey Obituary

Carla June Poskey passed away on October 13, 2025 leaving behind a lifetime of love and laughter. Carla was a saint, figurative and literal. She raised her children to love the Lord with a strong sense of right and wrong. Carla was a wonderful wife and mother. She was kind and loved people. Carla was born on August 29, 1938 to Fred and Beulah Richardson. She had five other sisters and one younger brother.


She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters.


Carla was a bookkeeper throughout Lea County. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Lovington, NM, a pastor's wife at New Hope Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM. She was truly beautiful inside and out- with just the right amount of spunk. Her presence filled every room with warmth and comfort. Her absence will be deeply felt but the love she poured into family and friends will continue to shine in our lives. Carla leaves behind the love of her life: Ray Poskey of Lovington; children: Cindy Brown (Maxey) of Lovington, NM, Ted Poskey (Debra) of Yoakum, TX and Kenneth Poskey (Toni) of Claremore, OK.; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Bro. Harry Pittam and Bro. David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025 at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm.


In Lieu of flowers donations may be sent in her honor to Shinnery Oaks Community, 711 W. Broadway Denver City, TX. 79323.
