Funeral services for Maria Collins, 56, of Lovington will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Maria was born on September 28, 1969 in Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico to Jose and Maria Elena (Ponce) Tarango and passed away on November 20, 2025. Maria enjoyed walking and doing Zumba. She loved spending time with her family where they played Loteria. Maria liked trying new foods. She enjoyed eating tacos and attending fish Friday with her family. She loved her co-workers and her job of 25 years. Maria loved watching Christmas movies all year around. She enjoyed traveling to Albuquerque to spend time with her daughter and granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her father: Jose Tarango and one son: Isaiah Collins.

She is survived by her mother: Maria Elena Tarango; one daughter: Mercedis King; two brothers: Martin Tarango and wife Lacey, and Jose Luis Ponce and wife Maria de Los Angeles; three sisters: Mari and husband Ruben Gonzalez, Gloria Gonzalez and Idania and husband Carlos Hernandez; and one granddaughter: Sofia King.
