Patricia "Pat" Ann Melancon

Patricia "Pat" Ann Melancon, age 86, passed away on March 2, 2026. She was a longtime resident of Jal, New Mexico. Pat was born on August 23, 1939, in Lamesa, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Henry B. "Tunney" Melancon; her daughter: Teresa Rawlings; her son-in-law: William Rawlings; her stepson: Faron Melancon; her mother: Verlee Goff; her father: Leslie Roberts; her sisters: Vera "Sug" Shannon, Leona Roberts, and Shirley Roberts; and her brothers: James Roberts and Lloyd Roberts.

She is survived by her children: Stanley Middleton (Margaret Middleton), Pamela Lee (Joel Lee), Donna Hicks (Jimmy Hicks), and Melody Stubblefield (Jeffrey Stubblefield); her stepson: Burton Melancon; and her sister: Joan Harmon.

Pat was also blessed with many grandchildren who brought joy to her life: Hope Dotson, Franklin Elrod, Robert Rawlings, Billy Lee, Stephen Lee, Alexandra Hicks, Alexis Yates, Adrian Carl, Jordan Middleton, Caleb Stubblefield, and Audrey Hicks; 12 step-grandchildren: and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Pat was a gifted and creative seamstress who could make nearly anything—from elegant wedding dresses to purses to swimsuits. Her creativity and skill blessed many over the years. She was also known as a wonderful cook, especially remembered by family for her delicious homemade rolls.

She attended First Baptist Church in Jal, New Mexico, and shared that it was only because of Jesus that she made it through the difficult days of life, which is why "Because He Lives" was one of her favorite hymns. Pat was known for her no-nonsense personality—you always knew where she stood—and for the strength and resilience that carried her through life.

She will be remembered for her creativity, her honesty, her faith, and the love she had for her family.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Jal, New Mexico, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Jal Cemetery in Jal, New Mexico.

While her family grieves her loss, they find comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones in the presence of the Lord she trusted with her life.

Pat will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
