Lottie Faye Scott Obituary
A Celebration of a life well-lived for our precious Lottie Faye "Dutch" Scott, 101 years young, will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church in Lovington, NM with Pastors Dave Rowser and David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Ms. "Dutch" as she was known by was born on July 25, 1924 in Lubbock, Texas to Sam and Lona (Carter) Berry and received her heavenly wings on April 18, 2026 in Lovington. She grew up in Anson, Texas and enjoyed singing in the High School Choir with three of her friends, entertaining at the Lions Club and PTA and other events. She married at a young age to J. W. Scott and they shared 60 years of life together. After their marriage, Ms. Dutch learned how to sew and crochet and she became quite a professional seamstress. With three daughters to sew for, she had a lot of practice. She then started sewing for the public and was in great demand. She and J. W. farmed in Anson, TX before moving to Lea County in 1956 then in 1966 they moved into Lovington. She had been a sponsor for Girls Sorority Phi Gamma in Hobbs, a member of Hobbs Extension Club and was employed by Luann's Dress Shop when her girls were in High School and in Lovington for Stell's Dress Shop. She later worked for Western Commerce Bank for sixteen years then for Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home until her retirement. Ms. Dutch had the perfect personality to greet you at the door of the funeral home and she always had the best comforting words for each family. She loved her church and was a faithful member of JABC before she was unable to attend. Not only was she an amazing woman but a great cook, a gentle and kind soul and a loving "MIMI" and friend. She was the epitome of a gracious lady and precious Christian. She definitely had a servant's heart! Her sense of humor held her in good stead, as she could tell a few funny, cute jokes that kept you laughing.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband J. W., three daughters: Barbara Ann Gray, Sue Dixon and Kay Ritchey; four sisters; Vera Henley, Louise White, Susie Mayfield and Ellen "Bunny" Patterson. Two brothers: E. V. and Snooks Berry; one granddaughter: Sabrah Dixon and one great grandson: Tyler Dixon.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Donna and Bobby Moore, Kerri Gray, Barbara Morris and Dena Buchannan. Also numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and five great- great-great grandchildren with another one on the way and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 4:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
