Robert Chuck ""RC"" Costello Obituary

Robert "RC" Costello

July 2, 1955 — May 1, 2026

Robert "RC" Chuck Costello passed away in Lovington, NM on May 1, 2026 surrounded by family. Born in Snyder, TX, to Laura and Wayne Costello, RC was the second youngest of seven children, with 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He grew up in Kermit, TX and attended high school in Longview, TX.

RC's life was defined by a legendary devotion to his wife, Christi. Their story began as teenagers, a romance that led them across the border to marry while they were expecting their first child. From those early days until his final breath, RC loved Christi more than anyone or anything in the world. He was her fiercest protector and best friend, always standing by her side. Together, they built a 52-year legacy founded on love, laughter, and adventure.

RC became the superintendent and co-owner of Permian Drilling in 2007, which eventually split to Western Drilling. Over his career, he built seven rigs from the ground up.

When he wasn't on a drilling site, RC was a man of the outdoors and a devoted family man. He spent his happiest hours hunting, fishing, or feeling the wind on his face while riding his Harley alongside his wife, Christi. He loved and took pride in his 5 acre ponderosa, where he loved to work the land and create a home for his family. Above all else, he cherished his role as "Papa," finding immense pride and joy in his grandchildren.

He is survived by: His beloved wife of 52 years, Christi Costello. His children, Stacy Bower, Shawna Costello, Robert "Bo" Costello, and Tessa Costello. His nine grandchildren, Kiersta, Kenzie, Tana, Allison, Robert "Zane," Karson, Kade, Aubree, and Parker. His younger brother Bobby Costello and wife Delinda. His best friend, who became a brother, Walt Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Laura Costello, and his siblings Henry Wayne, Betty, Joann (and husband Jim), Larry and Maxine.

In honor of RC's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Instead of a quiet chapel, his family will honor him in the way he loved most—with a family camping trip where they will spread his ashes in the canyons he loved to hunt.
