Funeral services for Tommy Ray Melton, 93, of Roswell will be held on June 4, 2026 the 69th Wedding Anniversary of Tommy and Wilma at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Tommy was born on February 10, 1933 in Ralls, Texas to Thomas and Frankie Melton and passed away on May 28, 2026 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Tommy served in the United States Marine Corps as a Korean War Vet from 1950-1953. After, serving as a Marine he returned to what he loved driving truck from 1948-2020. He met Wilma Faye Cravens and they married June 4, 1957 in Roswell, New Mexico and raised eight children. In 1979 he got a job in Lovington driving for Caprock Pipe and Supply, and in 2002 he got his own truck where he continued to drive for Caprock until 2005 when his wife become ill. Tommy continued to do short hauls where he could be home in the evenings to tend to his wife. Tommy took good care of his family and loved babysitting two of his great-great grandbabies. He was a Hero to all who knew him. He was The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Tommy had a voice only the angels and his loved ones could love.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Frankie Melton; his beautiful wife: Wilma Faye Melton; one son: Gary Ray Melton; one daughter: Barbara Diane Gaudern; one grandson: Danny Ray Melton; one daughter-in-law: Lee Ann Melton; and eleven siblings.

He was survived by two sons: Terry Melton and Danny Melton; four daughters: Joyce Ann Rutledge, Rhonda Vasquez, Tammy Abernathy and Jennifer Backus; one sister: Norman Glenn Carrie; Seventeen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grand children. Tommy a.k.a. Daddy was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
