Obituary of William Howard Barr

William Howard "Bill" Barr October 08, 1964 - May 15, 2016 Funeral services for William “Bill” Howard Barr, 51, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Viewing and visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm with the service at 4:00. Mr. Barr was born in Walnut Creek, California on October 8, 1964 to William Howard and Phyllis (Worley) Barr Sr. and passed away on May 15, 2016 at Nor-Lea Hospital in Lovington. He married Valerie Richmond in Lovington on February 10, 1981. Bill was a car mechanic and really liked working on cars and did a lot of that type of work with his Uncle Les. He enjoyed video games, playing poker and he loved to talk and make corny jokes. He was a collector of flashlights and had many of them stashed in a lot of places. He was the family weatherman as he would always tell them what the weather was going to do and would be checking it out on the news and the weather station on his phone. Bill loved fishing, it was one of his greatest joys in life and he loved music. There had better be a radio in any vehicle he rode in or he was fixing one so he could hear his music. He loved Guns & Roses and ACDC and Charlie Daniels music. He was a simple man that loved spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his Dad; one son-in-law: Zilmer Ward and his Barr grandparents. Surviving him are his wife Valerie of the home and his mother: Phyllis Worley of Marlow, OK; three daughters: Misty Ward and fiancée Oscar Nicholson of Las Cruces, NM; Karen and husband Chris Casarez of Lovington, NM and Crystal and husband Cyrus Metto of Hobbs, NM; one brother: Kelly and wife Shelly Barr of Marlow, OK; two sisters: Nola and husband Mark Eldridge of Marlow, OK and Charlotte and husband Donald Richmond of Marlow, OK; five grandchildren: Jordan Ward, Xzavier Casarez, Claire Nicholson, Chris Casarez Jr. and Ozzy Casarez and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
