Obituary of Edward Frank Riha

Edward Frank Riha March 09, 1928 - March 08, 2015 Funeral services for Edward Riha, 86, of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 1-8pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Riha was born on March 9, 1928 in Shiner, Texas and passed away on March 8, 2015 in Lovington, New Mexico. He came to Lovington on June 2, 1967. He was a fisherman and had a forty year collection of rods, reels, lures, and more. He was in the US Air Force for 22 years and was a retired veteran. Mr. Riha was a Driller/Pusher in the oilfield. He loved gold mining and had mined for gold all over the country and was called “nugget” by many of his friends. He liked to collect cars and boats. During his service time in the Air Force he lived in Greenland for two years and at one time there was 450 inches of snow and the house he was in had no windows in the lower level. Mr. Riha married Anna Lou Nelms Burns on January 9, 2014 in Lovington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Benjamin Riha, and his second wife, Melinda Lee Maxwell Riha. He is survived by his wife of the home, Lou Burns Riha; two sons: John Allen Riha and wife Valerie of Lovington, NM and Roy Neal Riha of Kissimmee, FL.
