Obituary of Sylvia Margaret Benavides

Funeral services for Sylvia "Margarita" Benavides, 47, of Tatum, NM will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 9:30 am at Tatum First Baptist Church with Alfonso Zubiate and Matt Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Margarita was born on January 4, 1971 in Ojinaga, Mexico to Eduardo Sr. and Adela (Sanchez) Benavides and passed away in Lovington, NM on October 20, 2018. She grew up at Tatum and graduated from Tatum High School in 1990 and attended the Jr. College for a short time. She also attended beautician school as she loved doing makeup and hairstyling. It was very important to her to always look nice even when she didn't feel well. She loved dancing and music and traveling and was a very good cook. She was a happy, caring, strong willed person, as she coped with illness, and she had to be strong as she was the only girl with three brothers. Margarita was definitely family oriented and took great joy spending time with her grandkids and her family. She will be greatly missed by all. She was preceded in death by her father, Eduardo Sr. Surviving her is her Mother, Adela (Sanchez) Benavides of Tatum; two daughters: Tamara Benavides of Tatum and Cynthia Lujan of Hobbs, NM; three brothers: Eduardo and wife Sandy Benavides of Tatum, Isaac and wife Stacy Benavides of Midland, TX and Rodrigo and wife Merced Benavides of Plainview, TX; four grandchildren: Mireya, Alvaro, Julien and Ivan and other extended family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 from 10:00- 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
