Obituary of Harvey Dee Vancleve

Graveside memorial services for Harvey Dee Vancleve, 77, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Vancleve was born on November 9, 1941 in Compton, Arkansas to Manuel and Hazel (Luper) Vancleve and passed away at his home on April 19, 2019. He grew up and attended school in Portales, NM and on January 1, 1968 he married Paula O'Neal in Portales. They have shared fifty one years of life together. He also served in the Army National Guard. Harvey was the type of man who could do anything he put his mind to and was considered a Jack of all trades, as he had the talent to figure things out and was a hard worker. He was a "big collector" of many things, especially tractors, farm equipment and old cars. He and Paula worked hard to build their mobile home park business and mobile home trucking. Harvey loved blue grass music but his greatest pleasure was meeting all of his "coffee buddies" each morning for coffee and visiting. He and his coffee buddies started out at Boomers and later advanced to Rustler's Café. There was a special table that the guys sat around each morning and was dubbed, "the liars table". Harvey was a man that loved his family; his friends and his life and was a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother: Orville Baker and two sisters: Helen Haragan and Jody Banister. Surviving him is his wife Paula of the home; son: Grant Vancleve of Dallas, TX; Daughter: Sheila Vancleve and her two sons: Jessie and Cody Fried all of Clovis, NM; Son: Camron and wife Amber Vancleve and their five sons: Austin, Colby, Natis, Shamus and Casyn Vancleve all of Lovington, also numerous nieces and nephews; his best dog "Gypsy" and a host of friends.
