Memorial services for Charles "Chuck" Howard Strawn, 57, will be held on June 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm at New Beginnings Church. Chuck passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 in Lovington, NM. He was born on April 13, 1962 in Roswell, NM to Howard Payne and Evelyn Elaine (Wimberly) Strawn. He grew up in Lovington and graduated from high school here in 1980. He played basketball during his school years and played on both of the High School Champion Basketball teams. He was a top athlete and enjoyed sports. He loved working on cars and was an accomplished mechanic. He was always working on something and had the talent to fix almost anything he tried. He was considered a "jack of all trades". In later years he liked being a homebody and his house was the "gathering place" for his friends and family. He was very outgoing and well liked. Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother: Joe Strawn and one sister: Debbie Chambers. Surviving him is one son: Justin and wife Kaylee Strawn of Las Cruces, NM; two daughters: Erica Strawn of Portales, NM and Jessica Strawn of Oklahoma; one sister: Gay Lynn DeVore of Lovington; his longtime partner: Naomi Villegas of Lovington; two special nephews: J. D and Gerome DeVore and one sister-in-law: Kathy Strawn of Alabama and also two grandchildren and many friends.
