Obituary of Sherron Elaine Little
Please share a memory of Sherron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sherron Elaine Gaskill Little passed from this life Friday, May 17, 2019 at the age of 67. She had recently entered the hospital with continuing complications from her battles with colon and lung cancer and COPD. She was a warrior that fought to the end, not only for herself but for many others she encountered in life. She was a mother, as well as a "nanny" to her grandchildren, a sister, an aunt, a niece and a friend. She was so much to so many people. She was the glue that kept her family working. She was the strength needed by many. Sherron was born in Wolfe City, Texas on February 2, 1952 to Kenneth and Betty Gaskill. She moved to Lovington in 1956 and lived most of her life here. Sherron attended Lovington schools and graduated in 1970 from Lovington High school. She was a single mother that raised three children and helped with many others over the years. She supported those kids by working lots of types of jobs from road construction to school bus driver to bartending to bail bonding and much more. The job she did that meant the most to her though was helping people. Sherron worked for some years at a women's shelter in Amarillo where her passion for helping those that suffer from addictions and life issues grew and grew. She came to Lovington later and founded Heart's Desire which was to be used to build a women and children's shelter In Lovington. That never came about but she didn't let that stop her. She used her bail bonding and contacts made through it to help hundreds, if not thousands of people. She used most of her time, energy and resources trying to lead people to better lives and overcome addiction, find shelter, furniture, food or employment. Sherron never looked at someone or their situation and turned her back, she stood by them and did whatever she could day or night. Sherron's work here on Earth is done. She received her final call, one that she couldn't refuse, she was called to Heaven for a reunion with her mom and dad and many friends and family she hadn't seen in years. She is no longer ill or tired.
Preceding her in death were her parents: Kenneth and Betty Gaskill.
She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Roberts and fianceé Steve Taylor; son, Clinton and wife Kala Laughrin and son Cody Little, all of Lovington, NM.; Seven grandchildren: Caleb Wakeland, Austin Roberts, Kyle Laughrin, Karen Nichols, Presley Roberts, Garret Stewart and Kenadie Laughrin; three great-grandchildren: Tyrant Wakeland, Maisyn Stewart and Karter Laughrin; two sisters: Ann and husband James Ellis of Tatum, NM and Kathy and husband Larry Baker of Texas, as well as many other extended family members and friends.
