Obituary of Efrain Arreola

Funeral services for Efrain "Joe" Arreola, 79, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at New Hope Ministries Church with Gilbert and Al Arreola officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Efrain was born on August 18, 1939 in La Villanueva, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Ines and Sara (Escobedo) Arreola and passed away May 21, 2019 at his residence. Joe came to Lovington in the 50's and served this community as a chef for twenty three years. He became owner and chef of La Posta Restaurant for eighteen years and owner of El Jacalito for nine years. His specialty was Mexican food. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need or struggling and it was a well-known fact that he gave away many meals to those who needed a little help. He said he never knew when he might be helping an angel unaware. His heart was very big! Joe LOVED CNN and wrestling! He was a simple man that enjoyed living a simple life, tending his garden and babying his trees, rescuing stray animals, playing his guitar, which he loved to do, and loving his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maria Rosalinda "Rosie" Arreola; one brother: Benjamin Arreola and one granddaughter: Jenesi Grace Roman. Surviving him are three daughters: Alicia Arreola of Lovington, NM, Nancy Arreola of Lovington, NM, and Jacquelyn and husband Pedro Roman of Lovington, NM; four brothers: Gilbert and wife Doris Arreola of Lovington, NM, Eddie and wife Adela Arreola of Dallas, TX, Oscar and wife Teresa Arreola of Dallas, TX., and Alfonso and wife Racheal of Lenexa, KS; five sisters: Raquel and husband David Ysasi of San Benito, TX, Lilly and husband Jose Garcia of Lovington, NM, Irma and husband Luis Sanchez of Lovington, NM, Orphelinda Dunlap of Garden City, KS, and Elvia and husband Robert Blanco Sr. of Angleton, TX.; five grandchildren: Isaiah Arreola, Yadira Soto, Victoria Garcia, Abram Soto, and Jaedence Roman and eight great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from noon until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
