Obituary of Joyce Marion Huffman

Graveside services for Joyce Marion Huffman, 73, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 11:30 am at Resthaven Cemetery in Lovington. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday before graveside service at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Huffman was born in Trenton, Michigan on August 12, 1945 to Dennis A. and Bertha Ellen (Cargill) Gooch and passed away on May 31, 2019 in Lovington. She came to Lovington in 1954 and attended school here graduating from LHS. She met Billy Joe Huffman in Lovington and they were married on October 24, 1962, sharing fifty two years together. She loved riding horses, going shopping and especially liked hitting the sales. Her family called her the "hoarder" as she kept everything. Joyce was a fun person with a good sense of humor and she loved her dogs "Boy" and "Duke". In the mid "80's" she and Bill took in and raised Jimmy and Robbin as their own children. It was said she loved driving fast but not sure if she taught her family how to do that but she loved them all very much. Preceding her in death were her parents; one son: Gary Wade Huffman; an infant brother Leonard and brother Walter R. Gooch. Surviving her is her husband Billy Joe Huffman of the home; two sons: Terry and wife Faith Huffman of Orla, TX and Jimmy and wife Rikki Huffman of Canyon Lake, TX; one daughter: Robbin and husband Manuel Rodriguez of New Braunfels, TX; one brother: Billy Joe and wife Lois Gooch of Strasburg, CO and one sister: Peggy and husband Tom Cooper of Pahrump, Nevada. Also four grandchildren: Sally, Dominick, Zoe and Teagan; five great-grandchildren: Anthony, Andrew, Dominick, Chevy Ray and Ellassie. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbsmithrogers.com.
