Obituary of Annie Vada Alexander

Funeral services for Vada Alexander, 85, of Lovington, NM will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Matt Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Vada was born in Weatherford, TX on June 3, 1934 to Dee and Etta Lee (Anderson) Stratton and passed away on August 23, 2019 in Midland, TX. She grew up and attended school in Weatherford and also worked part-time while attending school. She married Esten Alexander on November 21, 1951 and they shared sixty four years of love and life together before his death in 2015. They came to Lovington in the mid 50's to make their home and they raised their three children here. Vada was the epitome of a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend and her family was her life and her joy. She was the "matriarch" of the family, the one that kept her family together through many difficult times and was a very spiritual woman that truly lived her great faith in God. She was strong and strong willed and was a giving, loving woman. She was very active in her church and she left a huge legacy of love and faith behind for her family. She was well-loved by all. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Esten, one son: Ronald Lynn Alexander and one daughter: Lori Gail Little; two grandsons: Roland and Chad Alexander and one great grandchild: Tucker Sands. She is survived by her son: Marlon and wife Elizabeth Alexander of Lovington; eight grandchildren: Stacy & Gilbert Sandoval, Ronny and Heather Alexander, Justin and Jeannie Alexander, Sam Alexander, Patrick and Casey Alexander, Michelle and Matt Armbruster, Brandi and Seth Sands and Megan Demouy-Little and Kristin; nineteen great grandchildren and one sister: Ruth Guerry of Weatherford, TX ; also a host of friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
