Obituary of Carol Grace Tucker

Memorial services for Carol Grace Tucker, 72, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday,September 10, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Carol was born on July 16, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN to Albert and Viola (Flanders) Dykes and passed away on September 2, 2019 at her residence. Carol grew up in Minnesota and attended a Lutheran All Girls' School. She later moved to San Diego and met her husband, Tom Tucker and they were married in September of 1968. They came to New Mexico in 1999 to make their home. Carol enjoyed crafts of all kinds, sewing, painting and making hook rugs. She especially loved making Afghans and had, as the family said, jillions of them. She was a good cook and some of her favorite foods to eat were ice cream, fudgesicles and candy. The weather channel was her favorite thing to watch on TV and that's what she mostly watched. She liked going to church when she was able and also was in a quilting group at one time. Classical music was her kind of music and she spent many hours enjoying it. When her daughter was working at McDonalds, Carol would drive all over town and check on each one of her kids and then go by McDonalds to check on Janette. She loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Tucker; her parents: Albert and Viola Dykes; two sisters: Marlyce Miller and Margaret Johnson; and one brother Roger Dykes. Surviving her are her three daughters: Chrystal and husband Larry Armstrong of El Cajon, CA, Janette Smith of Lovington, NM, and Kimberly Lehman of Carlsbad, NM; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
