Obituary of Albert E. Fairweather

Please share a memory of Albert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Albert Edward "Sparky" Fairweather, 97, went to be with his Lord on September 18, 2019 while residing in the VA Living Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Funeral services for Sparky will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Sparky was born October 4, 1921 in Lovington, NM to Lillie Evelyn and Charles Walter Fairweather. He married Ann Hamilton Fairweather, his first wife of 40 years and they had three children, Suzanne of Lovington, NM, Edward of High Rolls, NM, and Cedric of Cheyenne, Wyoming. He also has left three grandchildren behind, Erin, Daniel and Michael and two great grandchildren, Addison and Olivia. He later married Della Pearl Annas in 1989 and they spent 20 years together before she passed away in 2012. During World War II Sparky served in the Army Air Corp as a Radio Operator on C47 and B26 aircraft moving troops and cargo between France, England, and Germany. After the war he returned to Southern New Mexico to build a home, raise a family, finish his education and start a business. He accomplished all three. Sparky opened his first radio shop in 1947, a business that lasted 47 years and was the first to bring black and white TV sales and service to southern New Mexico. He was an avid hunter, a jack of many trades and enjoyed the outdoors. He built his own home (framing, plumbing and electrical) and was a hard worker. He entered NM junior College at the age of 47 and graduated in 1968. Sparky was a Christian and an active member of First Baptist Church. As a father of three, he taught and instilled his brand of ethics and values:1). Persistence (never give up), ( 2). Making the best of what you have, (3). Always do your best (4). Be humble…and thankful for what you have. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff at the VA Living Center in Cheyenne. You will always be appreciated and in our thoughts for the professionalism, love and respect shown to him and all the residents there. Preceding him in death were his parents; his two wives; two brothers: Charles Jr. and James; and two sisters: Oaty Thompson and Gladys Vaughn. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 5:30 pm at the funeral home.
