Memorial services for Shermon Walters, 75, of Lovington, NM will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at First Assembly of God Church in Hobbs, NM at 2:00 pm with Wayne Villar officiating. Shermon was born on August 23, 1944 in Des Arc, Arkansas to Clarence Bernell and Ruby (Winberry) Walters and passed away on December 10, 2019 in Lubbock, TX. Shermon was faithful to read his Bible every morning and he enjoyed going fishing, grilling out and liked being on his I-pad. He also loved his country, having served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and receiving several medals. Shermon was always concerned for the veterans that were still serving and his favorite saying was, "Its my Country". He was a good grandpa to his grandchildren and liked spoiling them, especially the granddaughters Lundy and Maddi. Preceding him in death were his parents, Clarence and Ruby; one son: Phillip Shermon Walters; two brothers: Ralph and C.B Walters and one sister: Dolores Rodriguez. Surviving him is his wife, Sue Walters of Lovington, NM; three sons: Thomas Walters and wife Jennifer of Lovington, Jody Walters and wife Donna of Lovington, Jimmy Walters and wife Misti of Ft. Worth, TX; one daughter: Inga Pursley and husband Mike of Houston, TX; one brother: Donald Walters and wife Sue of Dalton, Georgia; three sisters: Maxine Strickland and husband Claude of Ft. Worth,TX, Sherron Brimingham of Ft. Worth, TX, and Sandy Dalton and husband Gerry of Arlington, TX; ten grandchildren: Christopher, Matthew, Taylor, Lundy, Troy, Kaden, Madelyn, Eamonn, Evan and Dylan.
