Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Johnny was born on October 29, 1943 in Marietta, OK to John and Alma (Leslie) Henderson and passed away on December 27, 2019 at Lovington Health Care. Johnny attended Tatum Schools, dropping out his sophomore year to go into the Navy on July 24, 1961. He served in the Navy until 1964 and was on the USS Hancock CVA-19. He married Sharian Fay Dixon on July 11, 1977 in Lovington, NM at the Pioneer Steak House and was a loving husband for 42 years. Johnny worked in the oil field all his life, working for many oil field companies as a Tool Pusher and a driller. He made many friends that he loved dearly. His nickname was "Jumping Johnny." He retired from Patriot Drilling in February of 2016. He was a dad that he didn't have to be and after he married Sharian he gained two step- children, Jim and DeeDee, but he was a dad to both of them. His son-in-law Bennie Bohannon considered him a dad as well. He became an amazing Papaw at the age of 42 and his grandson, Michael Bohannon, could do no wrong. Johnny loved life and his family and he had a smile that would light up a room. He never met anyone he didn't like. He enjoyed barbequeing on Sunday's for all of his family and he made the best Red Eye Gravy, but he would never show or tell anyone how to make it. When he wasn't working he liked going on cruises with his wife and family. Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church. He was quite a joker and loved to make his family or friends walk block after block to show them what a Polock Trailer was. Johnny was a loving husband, Dad, Papaw, brother, brother-in-law and uncle and will be missed by so many.
Precededing him in death were his parents, his wife, two brothers, Roland Hudson and Truman Henderson and one granddaughter: Janice Rose.
Survived by three sons: Jim and wife Veronica Rose of Lovington, Terry and wife Thresa Swaim of Stanley, NM and Marlan Henderson of Lovington; one daughter: DeeDee and husband Bennie Bohannon of Lovington; one sister: Sue and husband Ernie Carlisle of Lovington.
