Obituary of Gloria Gay Elliott

Funeral services for Gloria Gay Elliott, 80, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Christian Center Church in Hobbs, NM at 2:00 pm with Johnny Elliott and Daniel O'Daughtry officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Lovington. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Mrs. Elliott was born on November 22, 1939 in Santa Monica, CA to Herbert T. and Dorothy D. (Green) Neyman and passed away at her home on May 6, 2020. She came to New Mexico at the age of seven and attended school in Lovington, where she met her love of her life, Eddie Elliott. He was her high school sweetheart and they were married on December 5, 1955 in Portales, NM. Gloria grew up with a love of music and being influenced by her mom who had a love of music also. The "Gaithers" were one of her favorite musical groups. She was a very spiritual lady that lived her faith and was an active member of The Assembly of God Church now New Hope Ministries. She was a member of the Oil Wives Club and was the book keeper plus, for the family business. One of her enjoyable fun times was playing cards with her best friends, Jan Bunch, Nelda Bevers, Joyce Clemmons, Bernia Dean Kemper and Kay Shuman and she also taught her grandson, Tyler how to play cards. Gloria's greatest testimony was that all her children and grandchildren were Christians. She loved clothes and was an excellent seamstress and a gracious lady who loved her family totally.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Eddie; one son, Gary; two great-grandaughters: Kailey Myers and J-Lynn Gibson; one brother: Danny Neyman and one sister: Susan Greene and one son-in-law David Myers.
Surviving her are two sons: Eddie and wife Karen Elliott of Lovington and Randy and wife Leslie Elliott of Hobbs; one daughter: Cheryl Myers of Waxahachie, TX and one daughter-in-law: Molly Whitehead and husband Mike of Hobbs, NM; Also two sisters: Linda Carter and husband d Kim Crawford of California and Candy and husband Jimmy Allred of Lovington. Twelve grandchildren: Kimberly & Jason Duran, Kerri and Jay Gibson, Eric and Becky Elliott and Shane Elliott, Zane and Joslyn Elliott, Elizabeth Elliott, Sean Elliott, Alexis and Jason Buchanan, David and Cristy Meyers, Jayme Barnett, Devin and Kendra Elliott and Duncan Elliott. Also: nineteen great-grandchildren: Tyler, MacKenzye, Meagan, Tori, Alex, Thomas, Walker, Allie, Levi, Michael, Tyler, Caiah, Asa, Rand, Colin, Ellie, Gabriel, Mikaela, Rhett and two great-great-grandchildren: Olivia and J.J..
Visitation will be held on Sunday May 10th from 2:00 – 6:00 pm at the funeral home, 1106 N. Main. Please remember that only five at a time may be in building so we have to take turns. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Sean Elliott at Overland Missions.com.
