Funeral services for Bruce Edward Peterson, 58, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm at New Beginnings Church with Pastor David Villar officiating. Mr. Peterson was born on May 4, 1962 in Bakersfield, California to Robert Leroy and Alma Jean (McGee) Peterson and passed away in Lovington, NM on June 29, 2020. The family has requested that all who attend service to please dress casual. Mr. Peterson grew up in California, attending and graduating from High school there where he enjoyed playing baseball. He came to Lovington in 1993. Bruce married Deborah Clinton in Lovington on September 10, 1994 and they have shared many years together. He was employed in the oilfield and was considered a "Jack of all trades" as he knew so much about all areas of the oilfield work. He spent a year in Iraq working in oilfield. Bruce attended New Beginnings Church, loved fishing, hunting, Harley's, his dog, Scrappy and his TV and especially the "remote control". He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, didn't like fancy, hated wearing shirts and especially didn't want to wear a suit. He was definitely a jeans man. Bruce liked the simple life as he was a non-materialistic person and loved his home, good food and his family.
Preceding him in death were his father and one brother: Robert Peterson Jr.
Surviving him is his wife, Deborah of the home, one son: Bobby Yocum of Lovington; his mother, Alma Peterson of Lovington, one brother: Vernon Peterson of Lovington; one sister: Carol Ann and husband Joe Thornton of Bakersfield, CA and four grandchildren: Abby, Trenton, Wyatt and Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9th from 2:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home chapel. Because of Covid 19, you may have to wait if there are too many in chapel so please be courteous and it is recommended to wear a mask.
