Joel Valdez Mendoza, 46, of Lovington passed away August 13, 2020 surrounded by his family. Funeral mass will be 10:00 Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, with Father Samuel Ameh, officiating. Burial will follow in Lovington Cemetery. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, 6:00 PM at Kirby Ratliff Funeral Home.
Joel was born on July 24, 1974 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Geronimo and Bertha Valdez. He was a very hardworking man and always took care of his family. Joel loved to dance and ride horses and was always the life of the party. He was always happy, even during his illness. Joel loved God and was of strong faith; he prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy every day.
Joel is survived by his wife, Laura Valdez; sons, Joel Efren Valdez Molina and Brayan Valdez Molina; parents, Geronimo and Bertha Valdez; brothers, Daniel Valdez, Gabriel Valdez, Geronimo Valdez Jr. and Rey David Valdez; sisters, Irma Bolivar, Elisa Antillon, Zulema Valdez and Sandra Hernandez.
