Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Juandell was born on March 11, 1927 in Tatum, NM to Boss and Ethel (Tow) Key and passed away in Amarillo, TX on September 29, 2020. Juandell graduated from high school in Tatum in 1944 and then her family moved to Lovington. She was employed at City Drug and then for the MVD in Lovington and in 1948 she married Robert "Bob" B. Eidson. Shortly after their marriage they moved to a ranch they called Eidson Headquarters Ranch, 10 miles west of Lovington. She had always lived on a ranch so she was well-adjusted to that life and sometimes when they worked cattle, she would cook breakfast and lunch for about sixteen men. She was well-known for her cherry or peach cobbler pies. In 1951 the Eidsons moved into town and she spent her time raising their four daughters. She enjoyed going with her husband to his Army reunions in Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa and Nevada. Reading was of great enjoyment to her, especially the Bible, Guidepost, Reader's digest and the newspaper. Juandell was an active, serving member of Hillcrest Baptist Church before she moved from Lovington. She also liked playing Sudoku and watching movies with her favorite actors. She was an avid collector of thimbles and crosses, having amassed approximately 300 to 400 thimbles and many crosses, some as gifts from family and friends and some from places she had visited. In earlier years, Juandell volunteered once a week at the information desk at Nor-Lea Hospital. She was a member of Lea County Hall of Fame and Heritage Center, the Cactus Cowbelles, VFW Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary and was honored as Lea County Pioneer in 2009. She will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents: Boss and Ethel; husband: Bob; and six siblings: LB Key, Cliff Key, Joyce Frier, Jack Key, Gene Everett and Patsy Branch. Surviving her are her four daughters: Patsy(Jack) Ward of McKinney, TX; Judy (Ed) Mulder of Forney, TX; Betty (Gerry) Hahn of Amarillo, TX and Bobbi Eidson of Amarillo, TX; ten grandchildren: Angie Frier, Wesley Frier, Myste Snow, Nathan Taylor, Jared Taylor, Suzannah Rexrode, Courtney Wespe, Samuel Mulder, John Mulder and Amy Stoner; twenty-two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: NM Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix Rd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110 or Western Heritage Museum and Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame, 1 Thunderbird Circle, Hobbs, NM 88240, in memory of Juandell.
