Walter Glenn Marler, son of Johnnie Herman and Bessie Leota (Vaughn) Marler passed away peacefully at Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon, TX on Monday, October 5, 2020 at the age of 88 years. He was born in Clovis, NM on September 29, 1932. He served 4 years in the US Navy during the Korean War, and after discharge, he moved to Lovington, NM where he met and married the love of his life, JoAnn, in June 1961. Walter worked in the auto parts industry for many years and owned and operated Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts in Lovington. He went to work for the Lovington School district as a custodian until his retirement. He loved antique cars and was a member of the Antique Car Club in Lovington, the VFW, and the Lions Club. Walter made many lifelong friends including Gene Murphy and Lee Oden, whom he kept in contact with quite frequently. Preceding him in death was his loving wife of 49 years, JoAnn, his parents, Johnnie and Bessie , five brothers: Claude Edwin, Herman Loyd, Donald Ray, Billy Wayne and Vaughn Lee; one brother-in-law and wife, Jack and Carol Ann Jackson. Surviving him is one son: David and wife Julie Marler of San Antonio, TX; two daughter's: Barbara and husband Heath Wiebe of Vernon, TX, and Shawnlee and husband Daniel Caballero of Lovington, NM; two sister-in-laws: Ginger Marler and Patsy Marler-Gloor; five grandchildren: Taylor Marler, Hallie Marler, Amaree Caballero, Mindee Wiebe, and Andrew Wiebe; two great-grandchildren: Greyson Rodriguez and Charlee Dye; niece and nephew: Michele Cotton and Michael Jackson; great-niece: Brenna Cotton; and numerous other extended family. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 12th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Service for Walter will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at 2 PM at 3rd and Central Church of Christ with David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery.
