Graveside memorial services for Richard Woods, 72, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Prairie Haven Cemetery in Hobbs, NM, 1900 Stanolind Rd, with Hospice Chaplain, Steve Lord officiating. Mr. Woods was born on March 22, 1948 in Ellsworth, Kansas to Thomas Paul and Edith Lillian Woods and passed away on November 11, 2020 in Lovington. Richard grew up in Kansas and moved to Hobbs in later years. He joined the Navy at age 17 and served in Vietnam, earning 2 purple hearts and the medal of valor among several other medals for his service. Richard came to Hobbs and worked in the oilfield for some time. He also worked for I & W, Redman and then his last job was for DonNan for nine years doing inside sales in Artesia and Hobbs. He was a member of the Desert Iron Motorcycle club since 1985, and liked riding with his friends. He was a gun collector, loved cars and motorcycles and like to fish. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed spoiling his grandkids. He loved his family and will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents. Surviving him are two sons: Thomas Woods of Wichita, Kansas and Shelby Woods of Lovington, NM; two brothers: Donald Woods of Lovington and Jimmy Lance of Monahans, TX and two sisters: Diane woods and Cynthia Johnson both of Monahans, TX and eight grandchildren.
