Obituary of Larry Arthur

Graveside services for Larry Ernest Arthur, 79, of Lovington, NM will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with David Stewart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Mr. Arthur was born on September 23, 1941 in Des Montez, New Mexico to Lloyd E. and Elizabeth (Lackey) Arthur and passed away at his home on November 20, 2020. Larry attended school in Des Montez, NM but graduated at Albuquerque North Valley High School. In 1972 Larry came to Lovington to take a job with the police department and he came to marry his love, Brenda Rushing. They were married in Lovington on June 3, 1972 and have shared forty eight years of life and love together. Larry was employed by the police department and in later years went to work for the Lea County Sheriff's Department. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and went to many of the states sightseeing. He liked doing ancestry, going fishing and hunting and in earlier years when his daughter was young, they would go to Cloudcroft and go hiking and playing football and enjoying the outdoors. After retirement from law enforcement, Larry opened his own repair shop called "Larry's TV & VCR Repair". He liked staying busy and was a collector of nails and screws. Larry loved his dog and cats. He was funny and liked telling jokes. One of his favorite things to do was going to church at 3rd & Central Church of Christ, as he loved the word and the people. Larry loved his family and will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters: Dorothy Butts and Betty Hennigan. Surviving him is his wife, Brenda, of the home and one daughter, Angy and husband James Hughes of Ft. Worth, TX; one brother: Robert Blanton of Las Cruces, NM and two grandsons: Caleb Hughes of Temple, TX and Jared and wife Saraya Hughes of Dallas, TX.
