Funeral services for Howard Dale Hackett, 84, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:30 am at Trinity Baptist Church with Gary Chapman, Andy LaReau and Steve London officiating. Howard was born on February 27, 1936 in Melvern, KS to Milo and Mable (Tompkins) Hackett and flew into the arms of Jesus on November 30, 2020. He was raised on a farm in Willow Springs, Mo and came to know Jesus as his Savior as a young teen and was baptized in Blue hole. He graduated from Willow Springs High School in 1954 and attended Missouri University in the fall. He married Billie Lou Johnson in November of 1954 and they were blessed with four wonderful children. In May of 1977 he married Rhonda G. London in Carlsbad, NM and they were blessed with a daughter two years later. Howard was employed by Anadarko Production Company as a pumper and field foreman for forty years, until his retirement in 1998. He enjoyed playing games, gardening, reading and wood working. Most of all, his passion was his family and singing southern Gospel Music. He was a church music director for over forty five years with several area Baptist churches and sang in various quartets including "The Sounds of Harmony." Howard loved his Lord, his church and his precious family. Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister: Helen Fleming and one brother: George Hackett. Surviving him is his wife, Rhonda G. of the home; five children: Vickie (Dan) Cogar and Rhonda (Tanley) Menefee both of Artesia, NM, Diana (Christopher) Winters of Hobbs, NM and two sons: Leland of Lovington, NM and Rex (Loretta) of Manchaca, TX; three brothers: Homer of Lake Charles, LA, Harlan of Columbia, MO, and Harvey (Mary Beth) of Willow Springs, MO.; one sister: Donna (Howard) Jordan of Beatrice, Neb; also nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Gideon's International for the spread of the word of God. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
