Please share a memory of Eva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eva Lee Hocutt Davis, 90, of Lovington, New Mexico went to meet her Savior on Saturday, December 5, 2020. She was born on November 8, 1930 to Albert and Era Hocutt in Ryan, Oklahoma. Eva spent her early years traveling across the United States with her parents and siblings. She was briefly married to Earl Francis Newbanks until his untimely death from appendicitis in 1951. Eva married Merritt Thomas (M.T.) Davis on March 29, 1952, celebrating 68 years of marriage. Eva and M.T. raised three children together: Roger, Richard, and Dawna. Eva was first a Christian. She embraced, lived, and shared her faith daily. She studied the Bible faithfully and committed many scriptures to heart. Eva was a homemaker and a mother. She was a "celebrity chef" for many years and was well-known for her pecan pies. Her greatest happiness came from her husband, children, and grandchildren. Although unable to travel, she kept updated pictures and clippings prominently displayed in her home. Mrs. Davis spent the last 40 years of her life in Carlsbad, New Mexico prior relocating to Lovington in July of 2019. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Faye, Beulah, and Irene; one brother: William; and grandson Joshua Owens. She is survived by her husband, M.T. of Lovington, son Roger Davis (Becky) of Lovington, son Richard (Sharon) of Diboll, Texas, daughter Dawna Hancock (Robert) of Bismarck, Arkansas, seven grandchildren: and 16 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with arrangements under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home of Lovington, NM. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
