Obituary of Selsa Moreno

Graveside services for Selsa Moreno, 75, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, December 18, at 3:00 pm at Lovington Cemetery with Father Samuel Ameh officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Selsa was born in Ojinaga, Mexico on July 28, 1945 to Julian and Carmen (Velasquez) Garcia and passed away on December 11, 2020 in Lubbock, Texas. She was a very active member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and was very faithful to say her rosary every morning. She was a giver of her time and an encourager and helper to others and would give communion to the inmates at the jail and always the ill. She also did a Bible study at the prison for the inmates. In her early years, she was a candy striper and later worked for the City of Lovington as a meter reader and Good Samaritan Center as a CNA. She had a work ethic that was huge and she loved her family very much. She was a great cook, sharing her tamales and beans and her wonderful, mouth-watering Biscochitos with others and she especially loved to cook for the grandkids on their birthday. She was a much loved lady and will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents: two daughters: Silvia and Anna Marie Moreno; one grandson: Christoval Alcorta; one sister: Anita Acosta and one brother, Thomas Garcia. Surviving her are four daughters: Katy Sandoval of Hobbs, NM; Angie (Adrian) Guillen of Lovington; Eva (Gerardo) Enriguez of Lovington; Mary Ann Garcia of Lovington and one son: Phillip Moreno of Lovington; two brothers: Rafael (Evangelina) Velasquez of Midland, TX and Pedro Velasquez of Hobbs; also, twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
