Obituary of Lorena Fabela

Funeral Services for Lorena Fabela, 52, of Lovington, NM will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at New Hope Ministries Church at 10:00 am with Zac Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Lorena was born on June 3, 1968 in Lovington to Pedro G. Velasquez and Felemina (Losoya) Velasquez and passed away in Lovington on December 11, 2020. She grew up in Lovington and graduated from Lovington High School. She was a social person and an encourager and had a lot of friends. She was the type of person that accepted people just as they were. She was always helpful to others and also blessed to be able to help take care of her grandparents. She attended New Hope Ministries Church. Her grandchildren were a special joy in her life and she had a dog named "Keneau" that she loved very much also. Music was very important to her and she enjoyed all kinds from country to soul. She will be greatly missed. Surviving her are her parents: Pedro G. Velasquez of Hobbs, NM and Felemina Velasquez of Santa Fe, NM; her companion: Charlie Lewis of Lovington; sons: Cruz (Faith) Fabela of Lovington, Shannon (Jovan) Hilliard of Mukilteo, WA, Christopher Hilliard of Mukilteo, WA; Alonzo Williams of Lovington, and Antwuan Lewis, Xzaveion Lewis and Charlie Lewis Jr, all of Lubbock, TX; one sister: Amy (Hector) Molinar of Lovington and two brothers: Javier (Marria) Velasquez of Hobbs and Pedro Velasquez Jr. of Lovington and also seven grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the funeral home from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
