Obituary of Sylvia Vega

Funeral services for Sylvia Vega, 70, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at noon at Victory Center Church in Hobbs, NM with Pastor Fabian Sena officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home of Lovington. Sylvia was born on April 13, 1950 in Lamesa, TX to Thomas and Margaret (Fabela) Rodriguez and passed away in Lovington on January 22, 2021. She attended school here, graduating from Lovington High School in 1969. She married Juan Vega Sr in Lovington on April 26, 1970 and they have shared fifty years together. She worked with her mother at Margaret's Flower Shop" for many years and then ran it herself in later years as it was her ministry. Her joy was ministering to other and helping to build the church and being a witness for her Lord. She was a helper, a giver of her time, money and talents to many. She truly "loved" Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Lovington Wildcats and was one of their greatest cheerleaders. Her grandchildren were her passion and she loved taking them to parades and sporting events. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. Preceding her in death were her parents. Surviving her is her husband, Juan of Lovington and one son, Johnny Vega of Hobbs, NM; also three grandchildren that she adored: Abigail Vega, David Rivero and Ariana Rivero. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the funeral home, 1106 North Main, in Lovington. Condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
