Funeral services for Betty "Jeanine" Porter, 83, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at 10:00 am at Jackson Ave Baptist Church with Bro. Dave Rowser officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Jeanine was born on October 2, 1937 in Rising Star, TX to Rev. Roy and Pauline (Steele) Haynes and passed away on April 30, 2021 in Lovington. In 1959 she married Ted Porter and they came to Lovington in 1973 to make their home. Jeanine was an active member and dedicated Christian of Jackson Ave Baptist Church and was part of the WMU and Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the extension Club. She had a variety of jobs outside her home such as, H & R Block, the school cafeteria and New Tex Lab in Hobbs. She enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, going to the senior Citizen Center to eat and play dominoes, cards and exercising with the therapy group. In earlier years she was very active with her children and grandchildren and their events, always supporting them with her presence and encouragement. Jeanine could be described as a servant of the Lord, as she was always quietly ready to help others and would go to Sivells Camp with her husband and family to help build, cook or whatever was needed. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted Porter; her parents: Rev. Roy and Pauline Haynes; one brother: Gerald Ray Haynes; one sister: Lenelle Simpson; one great-granddaughter: Avery Claire Warren. Surviving her is her son: Tim and wife Kátia of Recife, Brazil; two daughters: Teresa and husband Danny Hillard of Lovington and Sherrie and husband Mike Warren of Seminole, TX; one brother: James Haynes of De Soto, TX; seven grand- children: Derric (Krista ) McKee, Ryan (Sunnie) Warren, Todd (Kelsey) Warren, Whitney (Kade) Ellison, Lesa (Matt) Blandin, Daniel Porter and Gabriel Porter; sixteen great-grandchildren: Caleb, Jacob, Samson, Benjamin, Korin, Mason, Madelyn, Emma, Ricky, Tommy, Rozlyn, Ezra, Khali, Dez and Mystic. Also, other extended family and many friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 3:00 ~ 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will be in residence from 5:00-6:00 pm to visit with you. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sivells Baptist Camp, 1254 Cox Canyon Road Cloudcroft, New Mexico 88317 in memory of Jeanine or you may send to Jackson Ave Baptist Church, 837 West Jackson, Lovington, NM with it designated for Sivells Baptist Camp.
