Evelyn Delight Altstatt April 17, 1925 - March 12, 2017 Memorial services for Evelyn Delight Altstatt, 91, of Lovington, NM will be held at a later date when her grandson is able to come home on leave. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Evelyn was born on April 17, 1925 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to Charles and Cora (Joiner) Inglis and passed away at her home on March 12, 2017. She grew up in Lawrenceville and graduated school there and in 1946 met the love of her life, M. F. “Buddy” Altstatt in Crossville, ILL, where he was employed by Warren Petroleum Corp. They were married in Morgansfield, Kentucky on October 25, 1947. They were transferred to Lovington, NM in 1954 with Warren and lived here for 49 years. She and Buddy adopted their two children and raised them in Lovington. They got their son a dog and named him “Troubles” but Evelyn was also very attached to that dog. They moved to Las Cruces, in 2003 and after Buddy’s death, Evelyn returned to Lovington. She was a member for many years at First United Methodist Church here and a member of Order of Eastern Star. Evelyn loved traveling and she and Buddy attended the Navy reunions every year and enjoyed going to different places. She was a great cook and was well-known for her peanut brittle candy. Her family was her life and she was the support and encourager for her husband for sixty six years and she loved her children and grandchildren. She was a great friend and enjoyed people. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four brothers. Surviving her is her son: Gordon Altstatt; her daughter: Billie and husband Mike Hood of Las Cruces, NM; six grandchildren: Jonathan and wife Kookie Altstatt; Jennifer and husband Nick Radell; Susie and husband Rick Kutay; Julie and husband Joe Farmer; Kari and husband Sid Kittur; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of friends
