Obituary of Mauro Martinez

Funeral services for Mauro Martinez Sr., 48 of Lovington, NM will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 1 0:00 am at Kirby-Ratliff Chapel. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Mr. Martinez was born on October 3, 1972 in Las Canoas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Francisco Martinez and Maria Tomasa (Rios) Martinez and passed away in Lovington on June 30, 2021. He graduated from Lovington High School and while attending school he played for the Lovington Wildcats. He also attended a year at Roswell Eastern New Mexico University. Mauro was employed in the oilfield and was a hard worker. He enjoyed traveling, swimming and he loved the sports channel and watching movies. He liked animals and was good at telling and listening to stories. He was a loving father to his three children and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceding him in death was his Father. Survivors include his Mother, Maria Martinez of Lovington; two sons: Mauro Martinez Jr of Odessa, TX and Damian Martinez of Odessa; one daughter: Cassandra Martinez of Odessa TX; one brother: Francisco Martinez Jr of Lovington and three sisters: Frances and Jose Silva of Waco, TX, Cecilia and Roy Yeager of Hobbs, NM and Yoli and Farrell Ellison of Carlsbad, NM and also numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
