Obituary of Maria Esperanza Doporto

Maria Esperanza Doporto November 01, 1915 - January 15, 2016 Funeral services for Maria E. Doporto, 100, will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 10:00 am at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Robert Sanchez and Arthur Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Ms. Doporto was born on November 1, 1915 in El Paso, TX to Reginio and Barbara (Monclova) Ortega and passed away on January 15, 2016 at her home in Lovington. She grew up in El Paso, Ft. Davis and other places in that area of Texas before coming to Lovington in 1956. She married Jose Doporto in Carlsbad, NM on December 26, 1932 and they shared sixty three years, raising nine children. Maria was a woman of great faith, a prayer warrior and a strong pillar of the church. She enjoyed embroidering, coloring books, puzzles and watching baseball and football. In younger years she loved riding horses and she had a collection of horse shoes given to her by her grandson, who made a point to find her one when he was deer hunting. She loved to sing church hymns, hear the Word and her passion was to serve God. She had a long, interesting life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one daughter: Leonor Sosa; one sister: Epifania Trevino; four brothers: Alfredo, Elijo, Elias Doporto and Roberto Ortega and one granddaughter: Eloysa Doporto: three grandsons: Ernest, Michael and Eloy Doporto and one great-grandson: Albert Sanchez Jr. She is survived by two daughters: Lucinda and husband Arthur Sanchez of Lovington and Lorena Flores of Lovington; six sons: Ernest and wife Janie Doporto of Lovington, Elias and wife Connie Doporto of Hobbs,; Eliseo and wife Tommie Doporto of Artesia; Joe and wife Rosa Doporto of Lovington; Edward and wife Adelfa Doporto of Lovington and Eloy Doporto of Lovington and one brother: Manuel Ortega of Humble City, NM. Also surviving her are thirty five beautiful grandchildren; eighty two loving great-grandchildren; fifty seven caring great-great-grandchildren.
