Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Graveside services for Dorothy Lois Cogsdil, 87, of Lovington was held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at Lovington Cemetery with Billy Cogsdil officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Dorothy was born on July 1, 1934 to William Bill and Gracie Oneta (Peak) Cooper and passed away on August 6, 2021. Dorothy enjoyed a house full of family. She always looked forward to cooking for the whole bunch and was well known for baking the best coconut pie that you ever put in your mouth. Along with cooking, she liked working in her garden and canning fruits as it always gave her a sense of accomplishment. When she was not canning, she would be sewing for her family, it didn't matter what it was, she could make it. She loved to relax when she could by going fishing with her husband and grandsons and drinking Pepsi and Dr. Pepper. One of the things she did best was taking care of her husband for sixty plus years. She was a real pro at that. Dorothy was the type of person that would always tell the truth, and if she said she would do it you could consider it done .She was a woman of her word. Preceding her in death was her husband: William Harold Lee Cogsdil; parents: William and Gracie Cooper and one grandson: G. W. Lovelace. Surviving her is her son: Billy Cogsdil and wife Lou of Cloudcroft, NM; two daughters: Diane and husband Larry Lovelace of Lovington, and Oneta Decker of San Angelo, TX; three sisters: Betty, Wanda Etheridge, and Nadine Malish, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation was held on Monday, August 9, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to wwwkirbysmithrogers.com.
