Obituary
Obituary of Brad Allen Fouts
Please share a memory of Brad to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brad Allen Fouts, follower of Jesus Christ, went home to his Father's house toward evening on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 – too soon for all of us except his God. He died in Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas, after a valiant three-week fight for life. Because God first loved him in Christ, Brad loved his Lord, loved his family, loved kids, loved other lovers of kids -- some would abbreviate that to say that he simply loved all people, having a knack for making each one feel special. He loved naturally and genuinely, fiercely and cheerfully, typically with a song in his heart if not on his lips. He was a devoted husband and dad, a faithful son and brother, a beloved nephew and uncle and cousin, a model teacher, coach, administrator, and leader.
Brad came into this world March 5, 1973 in Odessa, Texas. He spent most of his boyhood years in Jal, NM, and after earning a degree from Eastern New Mexico University he returned there in time to teach and coach for 12 years, before coming to Hobbs High School in 2012. His 9 years of service at Hobbs High included rich and rewarding stints coaching football and track and field. At the time of his death, Brad was an assistant principal, serving as principal for the junior class, upon whom the impact of his presence, leadership, and love have been immense.
Brad is preceded in death by his father David Fouts, and he is survived by his wife of 24 years Chloe, his daughters Emilie and Paige, his mother Jan Scharfenberg (Rick), his sister Cindy Fouts, his twin brother Chad (Tamara), his sister Kristi Langston (Abe), and a host of extended family members.
A public service of worship of the God Brad loved and served in Christ, and of thanksgiving for Brad's wonderful life, is scheduled for Saturday, 10:00 a.m., October 2, 2021 in First Assembly of God Church, 800 W Bender, Hobbs, NM officiated by Pastor Jotty Kinney, of Christian Center Church, in which Brad and Chloe have been at home in the Lord. A graveside service follows at Jal Cemetery on south side of Jal at 12:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring to express their love and sympathy may make monetary gifts to Brad Fouts Memorial Scholarship, 1910 N Turner, Hobbs, NM, 88240.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington, NM and condolences may be sent to www.kirbysmithrogers.com.
