Obituary of Ruben Carrasco Soto

Funeral services for Ruben Carrasco Soto, 66, of Lovington will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Godfrey Barrela officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. Ruben was born on June 28, 1955 in Pecos, Texas to Catarino and Juana (Carrasco) Soto and passed away on October 26, 2021 at his residence. Ruben moved to Lovington in January of 1960 with his parents and siblings. In 1977 he moved away and started working in the Petroleum Field. Ruben lived in many places and in 1998 he moved to Bishop, Texas where he met and fell in love with his wife Melva Jimenez Soto. They were together for twenty-one years before they got married on August 17, 2019. He accepted her daughters as his own children and was a wonderful father and papaw to their children. Family was his life, he would do for everyone from his wife, kids, sisters, nieces, and nephews. He would help a stranger if asked. Ruben was very spiritual, he loved reading the bible, and loved looking into ancestry and family roots. His hobbies were collecting guns and knives. He loved how he presented himself, his fashion and shoes were what people looked forward to seeing at family gatherings, the shirt, the shoes, the jacket and the "hat" was who he was. The things he loved the most in his final days was having family gatherings and making sure everyone was well fed. He was preceded in death by his parents: Catarino and Juana Soto; two brothers: Ralph and Ebodio Soto; and one sister: Ninfa Quiroz. He is survived by his wife: Melva Soto of the home; two daughters: Lucinda Guajardo from Killeen, TX., and Priscilla MClure and S. E of Liberty Hill, TX.; one brother: Edward Soto; three sisters: Rose Marquez and husband Juan, Elida Valencia, and Hilda Rios and husband Manuel; three grandchildren, seventeen nephews and fourteen nieces.
