Funeral services for James "Larry" McKay, 77, of Lovington will be held on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 4:00 pm with Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home. James was born on October 2, 1944 in Viburnum, Missouri to Leslie Floyd and Buelah May (Payne) McKay and passed away on November 7, 2021 in Lubbock, TX. Larry coached his children in Softball and he bowled in bowling leagues for several years. Larry loved dancing, anything fast and loud, drag racing, dirt track racing and he worked on cars and helped any one in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and four sisters. He was survived by two sons: James P. McKay and wife Susan of Lovington, and Larry Brian McKay and wife Ashtyn of Groves, TX.; two daughters: Sherrie and husband Yank DeKraker of Lovington and Sheila McKay of Lovington; three brothers: Jerry McKay, Rainey McKay, and Ronnie Mckay; fourteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
