Obituary of Paul Jesus Campos

Funeral services for Deacon Paul Jesus Campos, 60, of Lovington will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 9:00 am at St. Helena Catholic Church in Hobbs with Bishop Peter Baldacchino officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Deacon Paul was born on December 11, 1961 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Maria Campos and passed away on January 8, 2022. Deacon Paul was Ordained on June 14, 2020. Paul was a Deacon at St. Helena Catholic Church, St. Thomas Catholic Church and also assisted in the Catholic Churches in Lea County. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lovington Lions Club. Deacon Paul served in Law Enforcement for twenty-one years and taught at the Law Enforcement Academy. He coached the Lea County Lightning Semi-Pro football team and middle school basketball. Paul was a former School Board member and Mayor of Lovington and was currently serving as City Commissioner in Lovington. He was preceded in death by his mother: Maria Campos. Surviving him is his wife of the home, Patricia Campos; his father: Jesus and wife Ofelia Garibay; one son: Paul Anthony Campos and Mollie; three daughters: Olivia Rodriguez and Erric, Valeria Hernandez; and Jazmyne Campos; two brothers: Gilbert Gomez and Jesus Eduardo Garibay; three sisters: Grace Gomez and husband James, Ofelia Martinez, and Julieta Lujan; one granddaughter: Avery Lozoya. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm at Kirby- Ratliff Chapel. Rosary will be held Friday night at 6:30 pm at St. Helena Catholic Church.
