Mike was born on May 7, 1948 in Anthony, Texas to Jose Porras and Refugio (Marquez) Gomez and passed away on February 7, 2022. Mike married Rose Rubio on July 18, 1981 in Lovington. They shared Forty years together. He served in the army for 3 years. Mike coached his children and grandchildren in all sports. He was an accomplished race car driver. He loved the outdoors. Mike taught himself to Play the guitar. He was a member to the First United Methodist Church and was the sound technician. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jose and Refugio Gomez and one sister: Alicia Jaquez. He is survived by his wife of the home: Rose Gomez; four sons: Mike Gomez Jr. and Taylor Rather, Christopher Gomez, Joel Gomez and Danielle, and Luis Miguel Gomez and Lauryn; two daughters: Michelle Rae Gomez and Mallory Aranda and Joel; five brothers: Gustavo Gomez, Anastacio Gomez, Manuel Gomez, Flabio Gomez and Hector Gomez; nine grandchildren: Kira Jade, Maci Rae, Caleb Ryan, Acen Jon, Harper Reign, Emma Reese, Arlie Isabelle, Olivia June, and Karsyn Blaire.
