Obituary of Charlene Duncan

Charlene Duncan November 18, 1938 - May 05, 2017 Graveside memorial services for Charlene Duncan, 78, of Tatum, NM will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 10:00 am at Tatum Cemetery in Tatum, NM with Charles Ivie, Minister of the Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Duncan was born on November 12, 1938 in Lubbock, TX to Schebron and Juanita (Good) Howard and passed away on May 5, 2017 at her home in Tatum. She grew up in Sweetwater, TX where she attended elementary and junior high school before moving to Lubbock and graduating from Lubbock High School where she was named female athlete of the year both her Junior and Senior year. She then attended Texas Tech and majored in Physical Education. After two years at Tech, she married B.W. Duncan and they made their home in Ft. Benning, Georgia for two years. They then moved to Floyd, NM for five years before moving to Tatum where they have worked and lived for fifty years. Mrs. Duncan served as the school secretary at Tatum High School for many years. She was a very active church member of the Church of Christ, teaching Sunday school for a long time and being involved with the fellowship. She also enjoyed her bridge club. She would go fishing with her husband and always beat him catching fish even though he enjoyed the fishing more than she did. She was very loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and one son: Steven Duncan. She is survived by her husband of fifty eight years, B.W.; one son: Joe and wife Valerie Duncan of Odessa, TX and one brother: Harvey and wife La Vonda Howard of Tomball, TX and two grandsons: Steven Charles Duncan of Odessa, TX and Trever Duncan of Austin, TX and a host of friends.
