Amelda Joyce Odle, died peacefully at home in Tatum, NM on January 31, 2023 at the age of 91. Amelda was born October 21, 1931 in Lamesa, Texas to Odis and Mary Lee Frier. She had one sister Iris Adele Caster and one brother Philip "Fip" Frier. Amelda was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and doting great grandmother who loved entertaining and feeding her family and friends, and she was very good at it. Her two favorite times of the year were Brandings and Deliveries out on the ranch. Over the years, she enjoyed camping, fishing, working in her yard, reading romance novels and playing card games – especially Bridge. She was an excellent seamstress and an average bowler who enjoyed listening to Willy Nelson, Freddy Fender and Jerry Vale. Amelda was preceded in death by her sister Iris Adele Caster, and her loving husband of 71 years James who died just 26 days before her. It has been said that she died of a broken heart. She is survived by her brother: Fip and wife Emma Frier of Tatum, NM; daughter Karen and husband Mike Thompson of Fort Worth, TX; son: James Timothy (Tim) and wife Teresa Odle of Albuquerque, NM; and daughter Kyra Duncan and fiancé KenDon Fish of Tatum, NM. She has seven wonderful grandchildren, Johanna Belford, Sarah Johnson, Cody Odle, Seth Thompson, Rebecca Higgins, Shelby Norton and Haley Duncan. She also leaves behind eleven delightful great-grandchildren as well as many much-loved nieces and nephews. The family is so thankful for the loving and excellent care she received from her caregiving angels, Dolores Nunez and Margaret Sanchez.
